A STUDY, 2014
Still-life images work as a cultural reflection of the moment and place the artists belong through the objects they depict –food, flowers, glasses, vases, dead animals. This established differences throughout the art history that did not refer most of the times to the style, but the subject matter. That is why we talk, for example, about the sumptuous Dutch still-life differed from the simple and austere Spanish bodegón.
Since the cultural limits are more diffuse every time, it appears that many of the things we find in our everyday life are not familiar to us yet. Focusing on fruits, I buy for this project what I have never seen or tried before with the intention to photograph it as unknown specimens of study.
